Quality assurance priority new EU-presidency
1/07/2008
Today France assumes the presidency of the European Union. The work programme includes elements important for higher education.
President Sarkozy calls quality assurance in higher education a high priority to enable successfull exchange of researchers and students within Europe. France here stresses the importance of the European level approach.
The French presidency therefore organises a special conference (Quality assurance in the European higher education institutions) on 8 and 9 September 2008 in Strassbourg. Axel Aerden, international policy advisor of NVAO, has been asked to function as a rapporteur during the conference.
France is also determined to speed up the creation of the European Research Area and to organise this Area more efficiently. Here it takes over from the Slovenian EU presidency which initiated the Ljubljana Process just for this purpose.
