| In brief | ![]() The Institute of Tropical Medicine is an independent centre for specialised academic research and training. ITM collaborates closely with the Belgian Directorate General for Development Co-operation (DGDC) and with many other national and international agencies. It started its activities in Brussels in 1906, and has been based in its characteristic buildings in Antwerp since 1931. Today, it works with its partners all over the world towards a common goal of health and health care for all through the strengthening of the rational basis of health care.
