| Learning outcomes | During the two master years students are able to continue to build on the broad ranging basic scientific knowledge acquired as part of the Bachelor programme, complemented with the Information Technology profile, combining a multidisciplinary engineering training with an in-depth specialisation in Applied Computer Science. The Master of Science in Engineering Science: Applied Information Technology training programme is designed to train young people who are capable of making an effective contribution to the conception, realisation and coaching of projects of a scientific and/or technological scope for the benefit of the fast-changing world we live. Specific: The competences of a Master of Applied Sciences and Engineering: Applied Computer Science students should range from component to system level: graduates should be able to specify, assess and design both complex computer-based systems as well as their components. Master of Applied Sciences and Engineering: Applied Computer Science graduates are expected to be capable of assuming managerial and staff supervisory positions in all sectors of industry where the development and/or the application of software technology (ICT) play a key role. If required, the final objectives will be made pursuant to the European directives of the E4 group which as yet have not been put in place: http://ri.hive.no/arne/E4A1Core All graduates should have acquired a thorough basic understanding of all branches of computer science that are at the root of software engineering, such as algorithms, data structures, theoretical information science, concepts of programming languages and artificial intelligence and of those branches of information and communication technology which principally call on software technology, such as image processing and communication protocols. In addition, graduates should be prepared to assume a managerial role in private industry through the acquisition of a sufficient basic understanding of business organisation and economy. By selecting a coherent package of optional courses, graduates are expected to have explored one of the above disciplines in depth. With a master thesis, students should demonstrate their ability to solve a concrete scientific-technological problem. |
