Learning outcomes	Specifically, the Bachelor training programme is intended to: 1. provide students with factual and insightful knowledge of the structures, methods of operation and developments of communication and the media, on a national as well as international level; 2. provide an overview of the various schools of research as part of Communication Science, with a due focus of attention going out to the theoretical discussions and empirical input; 3. familiarise students with the various sources, information search techniques and research methods; 4. provide a due understanding of historical, economic, social, cultural, political and technological developments relevant to Communication Science; 5. sensitize students to the ethical issues pertaining to the constant interaction between society, communication and the media; 6. teach students how to get to grips with theoretical concepts, ideas and assumptions, how to empirically review these and how to translate them into a feasible research design; 7. teach students how to report on their work, both orally and in writing; 8. promote students' self-development by enabling them to take a specialist orientation in the third year in at least one of the following specialist training programmes: media and culture; media, politics and citizenship; strategic business communications, the information society and globalisation. Students are expected to: 1. have acquired the knowledge, methodology and skills in their field of discipline and to be able to apply the above in a critical and self-reliant manner in the practise of their professional career; 2. be able to develop a duly founded and socially integrated vision of their own with regard to the media, communication and information systems in the way they are widely used in present-day society, on the basis of the knowledge, insights and skills acquired; 3. have adequate analysis, synthesis and assessment skills to hold down supporting and operational posts in a purposive and problem-solving manner, in particular in sectors such as the media, publicity and advertising, PR and marketing, communication departments in enterprises and organisations, research institutions and services.
