Higher Education in Flanders

In this master programme, the economic and managerial knowledge and insights that the students acquired in the bachelor programme of Applied Economic Sciences are explored in depth. The master programme consists of joint courses (12 ECTS), a master dissertation (18 ECTS) and major courses (30 ECTS). Students can choose between two majors: Corporate Finance and Management Information Systems. The courses will be taught in English. Non-native students can be admitted to the programme. Masters will learn how to use theoretical knowledge and skills when identifying, defining and solving (complex) economic and managerial problems independently and with sufficient expertise. They will make use of the acquired methods and techniques, including those from the preparatory bachelor programme, in a flexible and creative way. They will evaluate the available and sometimes limited information in order to arrive at a well-grounded solution. They are also able to assess its feasibility in a multicultural context. They have the right communication skills to implement decisions or to have decisions implemented. They will also make an active contribution to the development of team projects. Masters acquire the learning competences and learning attitudes that enable them to take part in autonomous and lifelong learning. They can evaluate their own learning processes critically in the cognitive, affective, social, moral and ethical fields. Masters acquire a number of general scientific competences at an advanced level. They are explicitly applied when writing a dissertation and determine content as well as the methods used in the various courses that are taught at UHasselt.
