| Profile | The lecturers try to integrate in the course the real situation of an executive in health care by:
TRIALOGUE BETWEEN STUDENTS, EMPLOYER and PHL
All parties have to focus on the increase and development of competences of the student via screening, selection, permanent evaluation and consultancy.
FOCUS ON COMPETENCES
The final target is the training profile. Therefore the lecturers have to pay a lot of attention to the personal development of the student via POP (personal development plan) and PAP ( personal activities, or action plan )
CREATE AUTHENTIC LEARNING SITUATIONS
The lecturers have to use the expertise in the work field and authentic material. Students have to realise assignments ‘ on the job ‘.
BALANCE BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ATTITUDES
Students have to use their knowledge to solve certain problems and to develop competences related to leadership. Integration exercises in a simulated context and later on in a real context are the basis of this sequential training.
PROFESSIONAL BACHELOR OF CARE MANAGEMENT INTEGRATED PART OF THE INTEGRATION OF HRM WITHIN INSTITUTIONS
The institution has to detect if an employee has the potential to become an executive. When this has been noted, The Professional Bachelor of Care Management wants to contribute to the development and training of this employee. This training has to be considered as an entity and not as two separate
Courses (knowledge obtained in course 1 needs to be applied in course 2).
This training has to be followed during at least two academic years in order to acquire the basic, elementary competences. It is important to train the students’ skills to ensure that they can solve managerial problems in future.

| Learning outcomes | The mission of the Bachelor of Care Management is to train Professional Bachelors of Nursing/Professional Bachelors of Midwifery in order to acquire a managerial function such as care coordinator, head nurse, head midwife or another responsible line position in general or psychiatric hospitals or institutions for chronic patients. This training wants to realise a qualitative patient care in cooperation with the management.
This programme also offers a thorough management training for physiotherapists, ergo therapists, clinical chemists and Medical Management Assistants, who have already a job in management care or want to acquire it.
The course tries to provide future executives with sufficient leadership competences to be able to respond to the changing health sector. Hereby, the principles are competences and job profiles of executives in health care. Some key concepts are to be found in all courses, such as people management, policy, patterns in health care, ethical behaviour, knowledge, self-awareness and self-reflection.
This training has an important reference value and therefore it wants to make visible social, economical and cultural developments in education.
The competences which are aimed at are situated on level 6 of the European Reference Framework.
Therefore, these required competences ask for a thorough apprehension of the employees, their environment and the broader social context.
Students are trained to:
- organise their management efficiently
- manage health care qualitatively
- find inventive solutions for managerial problems.
