| Learning outcomes | The Master in Financial Management is targeted towards students planning to start a managerial career and aims to provide them with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to take up managerial responsibilities in the field of finance. The Master in Financial Management aims to provide an in-depth view on all aspects of finance. The objective of the Master in Financial Management is to develop its students into "managers". To be admitted to the programme, applicants should be able to demonstrate both the necessary intellectual potential and the necessary capabilities and skills for carrying out a managerial position. In addition, applicants for the Master in Financial Management should demonstrate a basic knowledge of finance. Specifically, we want our students to acquire the following knowledge, skills and attitudes: Intellectual potential / Knowledge: Ability to combine analytical power with strong synthetical skills ; Profound insight into all aspects of finance ; Ability to integrate the functional domain of finance within the corporate context ; Understand how the political, legal, economic, social and technological context has an influence on the corporate world ; Ability to understand and implement the concepts and techniques in the domain of finance. Skills: Ability to make decisions and take coherent action ; Ability to interpret and apply basic concepts and models ; Ability to identify and evaluate strengths and weaknesses and to take risks based on vision and realism ; To master social attitudes in communication (oral and written), meeting and presentation techniques, teamwork, negotiation skills ; Ability to think in terms of ‘Economic Value Added‘, and use it as a driver to make the right decision. Attitudes: To show ‘professional behaviour‘ i.e. hold high ethical standards, apply rational decision making, show respect for colleagues and be willing to work hard ; To be aware of the human factor in management by seeing people as assets and treating them accordingly ; To be creative in finding solutions, by showing empathy and being open to alternatives and new ideas ; Entrepreneurial awareness: to stimulate an innovative, pro-active and risk-taking attitude ; To show interest, enthusiasm and a positive attitude ; To increase one‘s own motivation in order to motivate others ; To understand the importance of networking ; To value ‘self-learning‘ as an important and lifelong process ; To show corporate social responsibility by applying a broad set of values to guarantee the long-term success of the company within its societal context. |
