This programme focuses on research and is an integrated mix of art practice and critical thought.

Therefore Transmedia runs in-house research fellowships for the staff who help students to develop their own research skills. You will study with internationally recognised teachers and visiting artists who are actually reshaping the direction of thinking and practice in the rapidly evolving Transmedia field. Artists share their work processes and methods and you will be invited to participate in their projects. Transmedia research focuses on visual communication, post-cinema, active media and on the area of computational and networked digital media. The aim of the programme is to encourage you in producing art work that involves the computer either as a working tool or as a presentation model. Still, we emphasize the user’s imagination and creativity rather than the machine.

During the programme you will learn and deepen your own practice from an explicitly interdisciplinary research environment. Therefore the programme welcomes candidates from a variety of backgrounds:

from graphic design, fine arts, architecture and performance to photography, film, video, installation and new media, but also from the humanities, science, music composition, dance and industrial design. Student numbers are limited. Students who intend to take the Transmedia programme are asked to submit detailed information about their previous studies so we can assess their suitability.

The Advanced Master’s degree Transmedia is taught in English. Therefore you are expected to have a proficient knowledge of English.
